Why am i paying to e-file my state&federal when i selected the standard which states $0 to e-file each?

The cost to file is established by what forms you have in your tax return....not whether Std or Itemized deductions are used.  Many people with Std Ded still have to use the more expensive Premier or SE editions, because of what types of income their file contains.....and ahs nothing to do with Std or itemized deductions.

Certainly Deluxe is required to actually use Itemized deductions, but there are a lot of other income/credit/tax form reasons why Deluxe may be required.
