I am confused. If you don't work in MA, how do they have your money? You said you don't work in MA.

You live in NH, you file NH taxes. Where do you work?

Please reply and clarify so we can help.

Ah, so you filed for a state refund last year and did not get it. To make matters worse, they wrongfully withheld on your wife this year. Let's get you straightened out!

For last year, you need to call Massachusetts Department of Revenue at (617) 887-6367. Tell them that you have not received your refund from last year.

For this year, let's start at the beginning.

  • If your wife worked for a MA based company, then she would have MA tax. You would have a MA tax liability.
  • If she did not work for a MA company, they should have not withheld MA tax. You will need to file a non-resident return for a refund.

Good luck! Let us know if you need more help!
