you paid in 2022 for 2021. for some reason the state either never received payment or it found an error that increased the balance due. to get more info call the number on the notice. Turbotax receives no info

Your only proof that you paid your state tax due will be your own bank or credit card records. It is not possible to pay the state from a federal refund, so do not make the mistake of thinking you paid that way. Get your bank/credit records out and see if the payment went through, then contact the state.
