So...Print out your 2016 LA tax file and compare it line-by-line to last year's 2015 LA printout.
Look for something unusual (there than the final tax due). It can be an income line unusually large...or a credit for taxes prepaid being too low.....then go back to the federal section to investigate.
Occasionally, when entering the state line on a W-2 (boxes 15-to-17), people miss the decimal point on the state income and 12,345.67 of income becomes 123,456.70 of income.....or the state tax withholding was entered wrong on the same line on the W-2
