Using desktop version. My primary state is MA. Secondary state is NY. MA efiling is covered by desktop. NY efiling is free by state law. I was charged for MA efiling.

In the Desktop platform, there is a charge for e-filing any state return. The first state tax preparation program is free; the e-filing is not.
