I live in NC and when I completed entering my information, I e-filed my federal tax return only as NC was not yet accepting returns. It was accepted and I have my refund for it. I also set up an automatic email for when NC began accepting tax returns.
I received an e-mail from TurboTax saying I could now file my NC tax return (and updated my TurboTax software). When I try to file my NC return, TurboTax wants to e-file my federal tax return a second time before I can get to filing the NC tax return - even though the status tab in TurboTax indicates that the Federal return has been accepted.
How can I e-file my NC tax return only - bypassing TurboTax wanting to file my federal tax return a second time?
Thanks in advance for any help...

I got the same e-mail, saying NC forms were now ready. But the wording did not say NC forms were now ready for e-filing. I think that date is still 2/24/22. I have updated TT and the NC forms that up to now said "Do Not File" now look OK (and I think that if I tried to print-for-mailing, that would work). But if you try to go ahead and e-file anyway, looks like TT gets confused and tries to re-file Fed. Wait until 2/24 and try again.

Uch. I'm not in NC, but I did the same. The federal accepted mine and now just want to send the state. Although the turbo help info says do it by blablabla, it Will not let me simply send just the state; it wants to combine the fed and the state. Very aggrivating. Sorry no answer, but food to hear it's not just me. I'm calling local H&R Block office in the morning to ask them it they can do my state.
