If you are using TurboTax Home & Business (Desktop Mac), the form is likely already "in" your file but just wasn't triggered to print or e-file.
- Switch to Forms Mode: Look for the "Forms" icon in the top-left or top-right of your screen.
- Open Form: Click the "Open Form" button (or go to the "Forms" menu at the very top of your Mac screen and select "Open Form").
- Search: Type "568" into the search bar.
- Select: Choose "Form 568: LLC Return of Income" from the California list.
Print to PDF: Once open, you should be able to see the data pulled from your Schedule C. Go to File > Print and select "Just this form" to save it as a PDF for your records or for mailing.
2. If the Form is Blank or Missing
If the form isn't generating, it’s usually because a specific "trigger" question was missed in the California interview:
- Go to the State Taxes tab > California section.
- Look for Income and Adjustments > Business Profit or Loss Adjustment.
- Look for a question like: "Is [Your Business Name] owned by a Single Member LLC?" * You must check Yes here. This is the "on switch" for Form 568.
3. Filing Manually (The "Waiver" Step)
California has a mandatory e-file requirement for LLCs. If your software failed to e-file it, the FTB technically requires you to submit a Business Entity e-file Waiver Request.
- Request the Waiver: Go to the FTB Website and submit a request. Select "Technology Constraints" as the reason (since your software didn't bundle it).
- Mail the Form: Once you have the PDF of Form 568 from TurboTax, print, sign, and mail it to: Franchise Tax Board PO Box 942857 Sacramento, CA 94257-0501
Don't forget that the $800 LLC Annual Tax is paid separately using Form 3522. Even if you didn't file Form 568 yet, that payment is usually due by April 15th for the current tax year. You can pay this easily via FTB Web Pay to avoid late fees while you sort out the 568.
