Turbotax filling in Maine (ME) Line 17 - deductions - as 0 even though I can take itemized or at least standard deduction

Turbotax used Schedule 1 to calculate my itemized deduction, which was only slightly higher than the standard deduction would be for married filing jointly. In either case, it then populated line 17 of the ME 1040 with 0 for my deduction. I have gone through the flow several times and cannot figure out how to change this.

I'm using turbotax online, self employed version.

I've called support about this and 3 other issues I found (I was able to work around the other 3), all of which resulted in wrong numbers. However, after spending about 10 hours on the phone, being "escalated" 4 times to another triage person, and told I would get a call back from a manager 3 times (of which I've gotten 0), I have gotten nowhere.

Turbotax filling in Maine (ME) Line 17 - deductions - as 0 even though I can take itemized or at least standard deduction

For the 2025 tax year, the Maine standard and itemized deductions begin to phase out for Married Filing Jointly (MFJ) returns with Maine AGI over $200,050. If your income is significantly above this threshold, your deduction may be reduced to zero.

If you or your spouse marked that you "can be claimed as a dependent" on another person's return, Maine law requires Line 17 to be 0.

If neither of these apply, please post again and we can investigate further.

Thank you Mary. Egg on my face! I didn't realize that the ME deduction phased out and indeed Turbotax is correct. Note that the reason I looked into this originally was that Turbotax is still filling out a ME schedule 2 (itemized deduction calculation) and ME initially rejected my amended return because Turbotax carried over the SALT deduction incorrectly to Schedule 2. While I had a > 10k SALT deduction this year, Turbotax capped the value in ME Schedule 2 at 10k. I have since gone through the exact same flow and it looks like this bug has been patched, so perhaps my calling repeatedly had some positive effect?
