It should have been received by Michigan State because each year I use Turbotax Deluxe and I follow the step-by-step instructions to e-file each year and have had no problems. The State of Michigan processes the tax returns for the City of Detroit since 2015. So today I called both the Michigan State Treasury and the City of Detroit tax office. I was told that they had received all state tax returns for every year (from 2015 through 2021); the 2019 City of Detroit return was the only one missing. I don't understand how. I even questioned if the pandemic shutdown could have something to do with it.
To resolve this issue of the missing 2019 City of Detroit tax return, I'm hoping to be able to amend the 2019 Michigan Individual Tax return through Turbotax; however I don't have an electronic copy of the 2019 Turbotax file - I only have a pdf copy of the file. The 2019 Turbotax software will not read the Federal and State pdf tax files I have saved.
Is there a way I could use my Turbotax Deluxe software to complete and e-file only the Form 5118 2019 City of Detroit Resident Income Tax Return without having to do the Federal and State all over?
