Thank you for the info.
Usually how much do we need to pay for the State fillings, $15?
To efile a state return from the Desktop program has been $25. If you buy the program from Costco or Sams you get a $10 rebate which is automatically applied to the state efile or first extra thing you buy inside the program like another state program. But the $10 credit expired at the end of April so you have to file by then. Or you can print and mail state for free.
Hi all ... replying to my post with an update ... I just got a PM from a "GabiU" Admin who was asking me questions so she could research this further. She requested a copy of my tax return. When I tried to reply (no, not sending her my return ... but answered her other questions) my message was rejected due to presence of some HTML code. Odd, as there were no links that I could see in my msg. Anyway, checking with the group to see if this seems legit.
Thanks!
@BME I get that HTML error message when I post from my iPad, not on my Desktop computer. I just hit reply or post again and it goes through.
You can send GabiU a sanitized copy of your return. You can send in a Diagnostic File which is stripped of your personal info. You will get a token number which you can post here and they can look it up.
To get a Diagnostic File go up to Online - Send Tax File to Agent. It will give you a token number.
@VolvoGirl ... thank you! The HTML error code resolved when I tried again. My issue doesn't involve my return, as such, so I won't be sending it in. It's purely an e-file fee checkout process matter. I did ask for a credit, and offered to send @GabiU a copy of my e-file fee receipt -- in case it is decided that honoring the discount messages is an appropriate course of action in this situation.
@BME @VolvoGirl Thanks for sharing the info.
I also have a question about the discount code.
I got a discount/voucher code from TurboTax. But it does not work after my inputting it into the box.
Usually what is the reason for that problem?

For anyone who saw the $10 discount in the TurboTax app but didn’t get it applied — I strongly recommend disputing the charge with your bank or credit card company. That’s the only effective way to make TurboTax deal with this issue.
TurboTax (@GabiU) directed me (and others) to their “60-day refund” page, but that doesn’t help.
The 60-day guarantee doesn’t even apply to us — most people filing under an extension are far past that timeline.
And even if it did, that process only lets you cancel and refund your entire purchase, which also deactivates the product. It gives no option to recover the $10 discount that was clearly advertised in the app.
Here’s why this is misleading:
The app still shows a message “You have a $10 credit to use on one in-product add-on.”
It never specifies whether this is connected to Costco or that it has expired.
It is shown all the way through the checkout process — even up to the second-to-last screen — so users naturally assumed it was an active TurboTax discount.
Because TurboTax chose to display a generic $10 credit with no expiration, no source, and no clarification, they’re responsible for honoring it. Continuing to show that message while denying the discount at payment is deceptive.
If you were affected:
Get screenshots: Open the TurboTax app and start a new return (just for this purpose). Go to the State Taxes tab and the Review tab — you’ll see the message “You have a $10 credit to use on one in-product add-on.” Take clear screenshots of those pages.
Dispute the charge with your bank or card issuer, citing misleading advertising and failure to honor a displayed discount.
The 60-day refund policy doesn’t help here — the only way to recover the $10 credit is to dispute the charge with your bank or card issuer.
@RayG395 Good advice (submitting a dispute with one's credit card company for the $10 promotion amount). That worked for me with no delay or hassle (no screenshots required), and I hope for you and others, too.
To date, Intuit still has not informed me of its decision on my November 2025 refund request, which I fully documented for them. Note, for 2025 return prep, Intuit appears to be running the same temporary promotion. If filing 2025 after 4/30/26, and purchasing state modules or whatever, we'll have to remember that the Intuit checkout process flow may contain the same false claims about the amount that we'll be charged.
