I think TurboTax is incorrectly calculating my Maryland taxes due to retirement and pension exclusions. The program is saying I owe over $1500 in taxes, but Maryland doesn't tax Social Security and excludes part of pension income. It doesn't look like there is any way to check this on the form before filing. I'm certainly not going to pay for TurboTax if it isn't calculating my taxes correctly, but it looks like the only way to see your complete tax return is to pay for it..

Thanks for the response. I couldn't understand why my Maryland refund declined when I entered our Social Security benefits until you pointed out the Maryland pension exclusion. I forgot that SSA benefits reduce the exclusion amount. In the past, this didn't matter since I didn't approach the max for 401K payments. In 2021 we converted some that money to a Roth which made the Maryland max pension exclusion come into play. Now I get it.
