To enter tax exempt dividends, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on Federal > Wages & Income
  2. Scroll down to the Interest and Dividends section and click on the Start/Revisit box next to Dividends on 1099-DIV.  [See Screenshot #1, below.]
  3. If you have entered other dividends already you will see a screen, Here's the dividend info we have so far.  To edit an entry you've already made, click Edit next to the entry.  If you need to make another entry, click Add Another Broker or Payer.  [Screenshot #2]
  4. If you haven't yet entered any dividends, answer Yes to Did you receive any dividend income?
  5. On the next screen, click on I'll type it in myself.
  6. On the next screen, Let's get the details from your 1099-DIV or brokerage statement, mark the box My form has info in more than just these boxes (this is uncommon).  [Screenshot #3]
  7. Enter Exempt-interest dividends in Box 10.
