The de minimis safe harbor election doesn't seem to be working in TubroTax 2017 H&B. No election form is created.

The form is triggered when you make the election in the Asset section of your Business/Rental.

I made the election in the Asset section on the Step-by-Step side but it did not register or create a form. Is there a checkbox on the actual form side that I can check to have the form created?

Look in forms mode for the form.It reads' Section 1.263 (a)-1(f) and is a tiny form. After you make the election, you then have to enter the expense under the Business/Rental.

I did a search for "section" in the "open form" "search" box and only 4 forms came up and none was the one you refer to. I also did a search on "minimis" but nothing came up as well. Are you using the TurboTax 2017 Home and Business version? I am already updated to the most recent version.

The funny thing is if you do a search for that exact name it does not show up.

You are welcome 🙂 I'm glad you found it. It's labeled by the IRS section number instead of the name and that's why it didn't come up. I will summarize my answer below.

Actually if you paste the exact name from the list of "Forms in My Return" into the "search" in "Open Form" it will not show up as an option.

De Minimus Safe Harbor election load IRS form 'Reg. 1.263 (a)-1(f)' in your return forms. To locate the form, select Forms mode in the upper right corner of your program, then review the forms on the left side of your screen.

After electing De Minimus Safe Harbor election, enter the expense item under your Business/Rental in the miscellaneous section with the description 'De Minimus Safe Harbor election' and amount.
