State taxes

I received a letter from Department of Revenue Requesting Additional documentation .  

They want me to send them copy of my Form w-2 as proof of withholding..  It also says include a copy of this letter, with the amount of your requested refund, daytime phone number and signature.  

What is this about?  Thank you Deana

Check the Audit Support Center.

This might be either a mismatch or an input error and you should simply follow the instructions in the letter.

At anytime the fed/state can request anything needed to process your return.   It is possible your employer did not send the W-3/2  at all or on time  and/or the state didn't get their copy yet.  So simply comply as requested ASAP  and/or call  the number on the notice if you have more questions.

It's also possible that your employer failed to remit the taxes withheld to the State.
