Unable to e-File CA State Tax alone before filling Federal Tax? How can I file just my CA State Tax. I owe Federal Tax but have a State Tax refund. Want to wait to Federal deadline of 15 July to file Federal Tax.

You can't e-file your state return before your federal return.

You have to electronically file your federal return before you can submit your state return electronically.  

If you want, you can still e-file your federal return.  Your payment would not be due until July 15th.  E-filing your federal and California return will expedite the processing of your state refund.

But you can mail your California return instead if you still want to file your state return before you file your federal return.  Be sure to select that you will be mailing your state return if you choose to file your state return before your federal return.

Thanks! CA changed to 15 Jul. I'll wait for Fed stimulus, then e-file State, then mail check to Fed before 15 Jul.
