I am filing both CT and MA part time resident state taxes. If I was taxed by CT for my last week of work in May, but was a resident of MA by then, can I claim the MA tax credit on that portion of my income? I have already finished my CT form. When I portioned/allocated out that last weeks pay income to MA shouldn't CT refund me anyways on that income, so I would not be taxed in both states, thereby not entitled to a MA credit? If I can take the MA credit on the screen asking for "Income taxed by another state", are they asking for just the income I paid taxes on for that week, and not total income for the year? and second box asks "total tax liability before credits,W2 withholding and payments" is that the total tax liability I owed CT for everything on income on my 1040CT or just for that week?

Part Year residents are taxed on the income they earned while a resident and income earned in the state while a nonresident. If you worked for the same company and just had the withholding for Connecticut overlap, it would not change the allocation part.
I used a reply to fill in fields on the questionaire for obtaining a credit from Mass on taxes that I paid to CT while working in Ct , but living in Mass. I seem to get the credit now, but the software made me change on Schedule OJC worksheet for Mass, line 1 for the 5.05% income to the total amount of income I was taxed on by CT. That is not the smaller amount which was taxed on by both CT and Mass . It made me change it to Total CT income taxed, which is not what line 12 on 1-Nr/PY shows on the Mass return. That is a much smaller amount also. I believe both numbers should be the same. Any clarification or help would be appreciated.
