See my Edit Note lower down first.

Are you saying your state of residence was a foreign country or US territory?  If you are answering a question in MY INFO about where you lived/state of residence on December 31, 2025, there is a dropdown menu of states.   Way down at the bottom after Wyoming is "Foreign or US territory"  IF that's your situation.

As @ CesarJ kindly pointed out in his comment which follows mine, my paragraph above was incomplete, since we don't know your status.  In other words, there may be a lot more to your story than just the few words in your question, so you may need to provide more information about your situation and someone familiar with international filing can further assist.    If you have never lived in the USA, and if you are not a US citizen, and if you are classified as a "non-resident alien for tax purposes", you won't be able to use TurboTax since it cannot prepare Form 1040-NR.    If it turns out that you are a "non-resident alien for tax purposes" then TurboTax has a partner Sprintax (one t) that can prepare forms for international filing, including Form 1040-NR and any associated forms.

If you have never lived in the USA, for US tax filing purposes, you typically don't have a US state of residence. Instead, your tax residency status is based on federal rules determined by tests like the Green Card Test or the Substantial Presence Test.

If you are a nonresident alien for tax purposes, you generally file using Form 1040-NR and provide your country of residence, not a US state.

TurboTax doesn't support filing Form 1040-NR (US Nonresident Alien Income Tax Return). This form is used by nonresident aliens with US income. Instead, TurboTax has partnered with Sprintax for nonresident tax filing services.
