Software won't let me edit payers state ID number in KY from 6 digits to the required 9. Was supposed to add three zeros but number is frozen in red. I tried deleting the form and manually inputting but got same error on KW-2 version of KY income state withheld form.
Went to electronically file with known mistake and it won't let me. Asks me to change filing method which I don't want to do. Please help. I paid $45 for the software to prepare the state taxes which I thought was a rip off. Frustrating.

When entering a 9-digit state payer ID into a field that has been restricted to 6 digits, you should enter only the last 6 digits of the state ID number. This usually works.
Make sure that you are not including any dashes, spaces, or leading letters in the box unless instructed.
If the last 6 digits are not accepted, you can try entering the first 6 digits.
Leave it blank if no state tax was withheld.
This is useless information. I have the same problem, which is the state ID imported is 6 digits and the required field is 9 digits. The error message in return review indicates to add three zeros before the six digits listed, but I can't get the program to all an edit to KY form where error is highlighted.
Hi there
after about an hour I finally figured it out. You have to go back to your federal income section where the original information was entered and change it there. Quite the ordeal though I agree.
I fixed mine on the federal form and then was able to E-file with no errors. Hope this helps.
