So I live in Missouri and i completed my federal and Missouri tax return but it says for my state tax return its started but it hasn't been sent off

federal is already accepted but the state just says started and i have filled in all the information and answered all the questions to complete state

If you already e-filed your federal return you will now have to wait until the IRS has accepted your return.  You will not be able to e-file the state return until the IRS accepts your federal return.  The IRS will begin to accept/reject e-files on January 23.  So watch your emails....it may take a few days after the 23rd before you find out if your federal was accepted.  Once it is accepted, you can try again to e-file the state.
