In smart check, it said I have to file W-2 form which I don't have.  I am retired I do not  have any W-2, why it keeps on asking for w-2.

TurboTax may be asking about an old W-2. TurboTax will carryover basic W-2 information from prior years if you do not tell TurboTax that you no longer have that job. That's to help you so you won't have to enter your employer's name, address, etc, every year.

To delete these W=2 "ghosts":

  • Type w-2 in Search in the upper right
  • Click Jump to W-2
  • Select the trash can next to any W-2s
