Remote Work - Did you make money in any other states?

Hello! I am a remote worker living and physically doing my work in MI. The company I work for is in CA. I know that my employer witholds a state tax; although, I'm not sure for which state. How do I answer the question in TurboTax, "Did you make money in any other states?" No - because I physically work in MI where I reside? Or Yes - because my employer is in CA?

Remote Work - Did you make money in any other states?

For the question did you make money in other states, you can answer "NO."  California does not tax remote workers who are physically located elsewhere (CA FTB).

To ensure your employer has properly withheld Michigan income taxes, check the state listed in Box 15 on your W-2.

No.   You live and work in MI.    Say no to making money in another state.  Make certain the W-2 shows tax withheld for MI.   It will be in box 15 of your W-2.
