Received Ca State Notice of Tax Return Change - Revises Balance…

I received  this notice stating that they changed my Head of Household status because the Ca form 3532 was either incomplete or blank? How is that possible?

I was revised to Single, they disallowed the ‘Nonrefundable Renters Credit’ because my Ca adjusted gross income was too high. 
Now they are saying I owe about $500 in the next 2 months. 

what happened and what do I do?

Follow the directions in the letter you received.

Was Form 3532 correctly filled out, and was it included with your tax return?  CA will reject the HOH filing status if a correct Form 3532 is not received.
