As you go through the Colorado return, look for the screen titled "Here's the income that Colorado handles differently".

On that page, there will be a section for Education.  Click Start beside 529 CollegeInvest Program Contributions to enter your information.

I entered the contribution amount which was slightly less than my state withholding.  CollegeInvest accounts should offer a credit on my state return for the contributions made that are dollar for dollar, but it didn't.  I contributed a little over 3K and I only received a couple hundred dollar credit.  I'm not sure why my refund did not adjust accordingly to reflect the full credit of my contributions.

Contributions to a Colorado 529 plan are a deduction in computing Colorado taxable income, not a tax credit.

Tax credits, dollar-for-dollar, reduce the amount of taxes you owe. Tax deductions reduce the amount of income you'll be taxed on.  For example, if your taxable income is $40,000, a $3,000 contribution to a CollegeInvest account would result in you paying taxes on an income of $37,000.  You'll be taxed as if you made $37,000 when you file. The state will pay you the difference in your refund.
