2006? Is that a typo? Do you really mean 2016?
TurboTax does not receive any information from the IRS or your state after your return was filed, so no one at TurboTax knows about a letter you received from the IRS or the state.
I AM BEING AUDITED

AUDIT SUPPORT
TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS/state tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support. At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support". Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter. Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.

"I received a tax liability statement from Hawaii state from 2006, how do I respond?"
I'm a fellow user, not a tax person. 2006 is fourteen years ago. I don't know what the Hawaii state tax law is regarding whether there is any statute of limitations or not. You may get additional responses in this thread.
Did you purchase Audit Support for that tax year? If so, we can tell you how to reach the company that handles that service.
You can also get help with a state letter at the TurboTax free Audit Support Center. It says "IRS letter" there, but they help with state tax letters as well. At the following page, click the blue GET HELP button and follow the path to get a phone number.

You may also get additional comments in this thread if you explain more about what state tax agency of Hawaii is claiming. Do not post any personal info in this public forum, however.
If you tried the free Audit Support Center link, when following the prompts, it may have just taken you to a FAQ page because it was prior to 2017. If that happens to you, then here is their direct phone number:
800-624-9066
For reason, say "Audit Support Center". It will then ask "what tax year." Once you say 2006, it may refer you to the TurboTax website and asks if you want info sent by email or text. Instead say "no" or "agent." That should allow you to continue and hopefully reach an agent.
Hours are 5AM-5PM Pacific (8AM-8 PM Eastern) Monday-Friday.
