Filing State Taxes For Multiple States

How do I file my state taxes if I performed work in a total of 3 different states? I reside in New Jersey and have performed work in the states of New Jersey, New York, and Delaware. I’m trying to file all by myself in an effort to cut costs but this is going to be my first time having to file state taxes for multiple states and I just wanted to know if it’s going to be a complicated process or not. Thank you in advance!

Filing State Taxes For Multiple States

you need to file a return for your resident state which must be completed last.  your income from earned in every state

you need to complete a  non resident return for NY and DE reporting only the income you earned in that state

then you can complete the resident NJ return on which you will get a credit for the part or all of the taxes paid to NY and DE. .
