Greetings,
At least or only, either ones can file Use Tax during the year, or and file on the NJ Income Tax return. Because filing not in a certain time frame or so may cause penalty, interest or and so forth, is it wrong to intentionally wait until the following year and file all the Use tax on an Income tax return if one of the reasons is to avoid late fee(s), interest, if any other may apply, or do you have to file throughout the year? If filed before the end of the year and not on an income tax return, If I don't file by the 20th day after receiving item(s) in the state of NJ, is that automatically due for penalty or so, interest or and any other fee or so that may apply? At least one time, I was told over the phone I can file when I want to or on those lines however, but I emailed NJ Taxation and Regulatory or and whatever they are said on the lines that you can or and will be penalized if you are late. Is there a such thing as being late and late fee(s) however, of filing and paying Personal Use Tax not by the 20th day, even paying several months later, etc.?

Use tax on 2024 tax return (filed this year) is for items purchased in 2024 , for which your NJ sales tax was due but not paid.
