Hi,
I was an NJ non-resident (+US non-resident) for the entirety of 2020 however, my employer (in NY) had my NJ residence address on record. My employment ended in September 2020 upon which they updated their records to reflect my current address located in Canada.
Considering this, will I still have to file for NJ state as a non-resident for 2020?
Thanks!

If you were a non-resident of NJ for all of 2020, and you had no NJ-source income in 2020, then you have no NJ filing requirement for 2020.
However, if your employer mistakenly withheld NJ state taxes from your 2020 pay, you'd have to file a non-resident NJ return (showing zero NJ income) in order to obtain a refund of those withholdings.
Thanks, that makes sense. In my case, I realized I would have to file NJ non-resident because I have some interest income.
