TurboTax (Deluxe, desktop Mac) gives me an error on my NC State return, during checking and on eFile, which terminated my eFile. It says "Tax paid to another state should be blank", but that box is blank. It is blank in the Easy Step entry and in the form itself. But TurboTax apparently thinks it is not empty.

To confirm, are you filing a North Carolina return? If so, please go back and review the input for the income section to make sure the correct state is entered.
Yes, the correct state is entered. NC is the second of two states in which I am filing a return. The description from Turbotax say that field should be blank because I am declaring income earned in NC as a non-resident. I am also having trouble with a message from my state of residence – Turbotax wants em to enter something in a form box that won't allow me to type anything into it. That field is normally filled by calculations from other fields on that form, but all those other fields on the form are blank.
I have a complicated return this year: sold a house with capital gains in NC and worked some of the year remotely in NC as a non-resident. Turbotax should be able to sort this out for me.
Please follow the instructions here, to speak with a tax specialist by phone.
