The state tax that was withheld from your income documents will be listed in the Payments section of your California return. Please view page 3, line 71 of the full-year resident Form 540 for reference. The amount listed on line 71 should be included in the total amount of payments on line 92 of Form 540 and applied toward your final refund or tax due.
Please follow the directions below if you need to print a copy of your return:
If you are using TurboTax CD/Download software, follow the directions in this TurboTax FAQ instead.
Note: If you were not a full-year resident you should still look at the Payments section of whatever tax form you filed.
The lines were left blank that you said should show the amount ,I’m going to wait until I get my refund then file a correction for the money withheld
If line 71 is blank on your CA 540, I suggest you go back to your W-2's. You would have posted these in the INCOME section of your Federal return.
On the W-2, look at boxes 15, 16 & 17. This is where state taxes are withheld. Confirm that this is posted correctly in those areas.
