My state and local income tax deduction is about $5,000 and my estimated state sales tax deduction is about $900 - How do I get it to accept the higher amount?

Turbo tax is recommending taking the higher amount but even when i select it - it will populate with the lower amount. Help!

Type 'sales tax' in the Search window, and 'Jump to sales tax'.

Continue through the interview until you reach 'We've Chosen a Deduction for You'.

Check the box to 'change your deduction' and select State and local income tax deduction (screenshot).

Thats the problem - thats exactly what I am doing but it never changes the amount
