My husband's employer in Texas held out state taxes in the state of AL, amounting to $54.23, when they sent him to work there for one job. We live in LA. Then they held out state taxes in the state of GA, amounting to $3.78, when he went there on a job. They then corrected the way they were taking out the taxes to his residential state of LA. Do we have to filed state returns for AL and GA? The amounts are small. Thank you so much for your time and help in this matter. Emily

No, you are not required file tax returns for Alabama or Georgia in this case.
You are non residents with insufficient income to require filing a tax return in each state.
The only reason you would file state returns is to receive a refund for the taxes paid, but the filing fees would be greater than your tax withheld.
