We are both Maryland residents and we both have Maryland income to report. My husband also has Georgia income to report. Can we file jointly for federal and Maryland, and then file separately for my husband for Georgia? I know how to do that if it's ok, I'm just asking if it's ok.

Yes. Georgia gives you the option to either file as separately on his income only, or use the joint status for a calculation based off of both of your income, even though only his income is taxable in Georgia. You may choose the method that results in less tax.
