I moved from CA to OR in august, but continued to work for the same company.
I recieved 3 w-2s
The first one has the same the amount I earned while working in CA
the next ones seem to be copies of the same one of the income I earned while in OR
the only difference is
1:
15:
STATE ID:TOTAL STATE
16:
17: $xxx.xx (state income tax I paid while working in oregon)
w2 #2
15 CA (california state ID)
16 xxxx.xx (ammount I made while workin in OR)
17 blank
So how do I file that all the income under california since it doesn't mention OR or?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Ideally, you get a corrected W-2 from your employee.
Lacking that, when you enter W-2s 1&2, combine the numbers, at the W-2 screen.
box 15: OR
box 16 xxxx.xx (ammount I made while workin in OR)
box 17: $xxx.xx (state income tax I paid while working in oregon)
You don't say what is in box 1 of all the W-2s. Make sure your employer hasn't double (or triple) reported your income. If he has, it's even more important that you get corrected w-2s. Again lacking that, again don't double enter the box 1 amount.
box 1 for the first one is what I made in california.
for w2 #2 and #3 its the same which is what I made after moving to oregon
So I just disregard that none of them say oregon on them and still file it for orego?. It just feels odd because I'd be saying something the W-2 doesn't. Are you sure it'll be ok? My company states on their website if you move locations (I work for a very large company) you will receive multiple W-2s so I feel like it's unlikely they reported it wrong. Thank you for your help.
Your employer has done it wrong or you are not explaining it very well. Box 15 cannot be CA if boxes 16 & 17, ON THE SAME LINE, are your OR amounts.
Maybe they sent it wrong on the W2 But looking at my taxes as stated in my paystubs they paid that to Oregon state tax return even though on both of the duplicate W2s it doesn’t mention Oregon.
Good. I stick with my original advice, try to get corrected W-2. Lacking that, change CA to OR when you enter it at the W-2 screen. If you don't Turbotax is going to place it on your CA return.
