While checking my state return for accuracy, TurboTax shows I did not make a payment election on the worksheet M1CWFC for the state of Minnesota and insists it must be filled out. This form is explicitly for anyone that is 'married filling separately' with at least one qualifying dependent. All of my paperwork on the federal and state side show my return as 'married filing jointly' and with NO dependents. Why is TurboTax asking for this form to be filled out given my circumstances?

Schedule M1CWFC's primary use is for all residents claiming the Child or Working Family Credit... including childless couples with lower incomes.
If you are Married Filing Jointly and your combined earned income is below $37,910 (2025), you may qualify for a small amount of the Working Family Credit (up to $379).
Minnesota recently introduced advance payments for these credits; the program may be asking if you want such payments for the next tax year (2026), regardless of whether you are actually receiving a credit this year.
You can try these steps to fix the problem (from easiest to most drastic) :
Greetings Tom:
I can confirm that, in the 20+ years of using TurboTax, none of the circumstances outlined including being below the income threshold apply to these circumstances. Deleting the worksheet is the best option in my situation. At this point, the taxes have been e-filed and show accepted.
I realize this may be a possibly risky scenario, but perhaps an addition to the software that informs the customer a worksheet can be deleted when it fails the review phase would be worth noting. It would stop scenario's like this from repeating.
Thank you
Mitch
