Married living in separate states

Hello to all ,

I am new here and this is my first post . (hopefully someone can help) My wife and I were wondering what kind of tax implications there could be in regards to our scenario. We currently live in California (we do not own any property in CA at all) but we are going to be buying a house in Las Vegas Nevada where I will be living full time  for a couple of years by myself before she will be relocating to live with me. My question is because my wife will be living in California and paying state income tax are there any tax implications that may affect us ? Would it be best to file separate ?

                                                           Thank you so much

Because both California and Nevada are Community Property states, if you did file Separate, you would have almost mirrored returns anyway.  For the California return, you will be able to indicate the she was a resident and you were not.  You will be able to allocate which income was earned in California.
