Hi,
I know it's late but I'm currently trying to file my 2022 returns with TurboTax's 2022 desktop software.
Since the federal has closed, I would like to mail my federal, but still e-file my NYS return.
However, it says according to NYS law, I must efile my NY return. How can I go about doing this separately, i.e. mailing my federal, getting confirmation, then e-filing my NYS return?
What's the best way to go about this?

Sorry you can not efile any prior year returns from Turbo Tax. And you can only efile state if federal was first efiled and accepted. It's ok to mail NY if you can't efile federal.
You are required to e-file your NY return IF "your software supports the electronic filing of your return." TurboTax does not support electronic filing of your NY return if you file your federal return by mail. Therefore you are not required to e-file your NY return. File it by mail.
Can I mail both at the same time? Or do I need to wait for federal to be accepted before I can mail my state?
Federal and state are completely separate. You can mail them at the same time. They go in separate envelopes to different places. Mailed returns don't get Accepted or Rejected.
