If you made this money from wages or income earned while working in MA or from sources in the state, then you will need file a nonresident state return.

When you are in TurboTax you will need to do the following:

  • Click on My Info in left column
  • Scroll down to Other state income and Click on Edit
  • Did you make money in any other states? Click on Yes, I made money in states other than Rhode Island
  • Find Massachusetts in drop down box and Click Continue
  • That will bring you back to your My Info screen
  • You can Click on State in the left column and then Continue and Continue
  • Massachusettes will show as a Nonresident state and Click Start
  • Follow instructions to work through return
