It says that I owe money in Illinois but I reside in California, how do fix that?

I was born in Illinois but I’m a reservist in California. How do I translate that for turbo tax.

You do not live in CA, you are stationed there. If your Home of Record is IL, then your income is taxed to IL, not CA. You do not need to file a  CA return unless you earned income outside of your military pay.

Here is PUB-102, Illinois Filing Requirements for Military Personnel

Doesn't that apply for active duty? I'm currently an inactive reservist. Didn't receive any pay from the Navy.  Also, I had a job other than the military in California.

Personal information at the beginning asks where you are a resident. You may need to change that information.

No military, let's try this: What is my state residency status?

Since you live and work in CA, that would be either part year or full year resident. Where does IL come into play, did you officially change residency?  see link above
