IT-112-R(NJ) Tax Amount - TP should not be greater than the tax imposed by other state

My token number is 1326829

I live in NY and work in NJ. Made all income in NJ in 2025. I'm not sure how to fix this error code on my NY return. Tax Amount - TP is 1,682. Amount of tax imposed by other state shows as 860.

@LenaH @BrittanyS @JosephS1 or any expert that can help, I would be so grateful!

IT-112-R(NJ) Tax Amount - TP should not be greater than the tax imposed by other state

The total amount of tax liability on your New Jersey return is $860 (Line 49 on Form NJ-1040NR). This amount must match the amount on your New York return. Once I made that correction on your return, the error cleared.

For step-by-step instructions on accessing that area of your New York return, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Open your New York return.
  2. Continue through the screens until you reach, Take a look at New York credits and taxes.
  3. Scroll down to Taxes Paid to Another State. Click Update.
  4. Click Edit next to New Jersey.
  5. Enter $860 in the box next to New Jersey tax paid by you. Click Continue.
  6. Continue through your return and your error should be cleared.
