I have 2 W2s from the same employer, 1 from VA & 1 DC. I only lived in DC but my employer didn't switch my home state to DC until April of 2016. Do I file for VA and DC?

I have 2 W2s from the same employer, one from VA & one from DC. I only lived in DC but my employer didn't switch my home state to DC until April of 2016. Do I file for VA and DC? Do I have to pay VA taxes even though I never lived there?

If you did not live or work in VA, then you do not have to pay taxes there. You should enter both W-2s however.

However, if you had VA payroll taxes withheld, you would probably want to file a non-resident VA state return to get those monies refunded.
