You report your income where you actually work so if you worked in Georgia and had Georgia withholding (Box 15-16-17 of your W2) you will have to file a Georgia nonresident income tax return. You must also file in Indiana since that is your resident state. If you paid taxes to a state other than Indiana during the year, you may receive a tax credit for that on your Indiana state taxes. That way, you won't be taxed twice on the same income.
@MaryK4 Thank you for the prompt response. Do you know if filing through turbotax will help walk me through that process of filing the non-resident return for Georgia? Is there something special I need to do in order to get the credit for the Indiana state taxes?
Yes, TurboTax will walk you through preparing the Georgia nonresident return. You should prepare the Georgia nonresident return before your Indiana return, so that the credit for 'taxes paid to another state' gets calculated properly.
How do I file a nonresident state return? This link has full instructions.
