I work in NY but my school has a corporate headquarters in PA. Do I need to file a state return in PA as well?

My school is a 'brick & mortar' facility in NY and they are part of a corporate entity in PA. How can I tell if my w-2 shows that PA taxes were taken out? Can the state ID number tell me that?

You wouldn't file a PA return because your company is based out of another state. That would be a disaster.

The bottom of your W2 (boxes 16-20) would show PA. But, it shouldn't. You worked in NY, so there's no reason you should expect to pay PA taxes.
