I was to get $2400 from State of California. Got check today for $1200. Said there was an error. What do I do now?

I want to know why I only got half the amount TurboTax said I was entitled to.  Is it NEVER possible to speak with a real live person here.  This is driving me crazy.......I need help.  I need my money.  All I know is there was an error somewhere in my tax return.  TurboTax reviewed it and said it was fine.  WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Could you have made a data entry error?  Did CA send you an explanatory letter?

Keep in mind that TT goes by your data entry and interview answers The program has no way of knowing if you make a typo or forget to claim some income. The fact that CA sent you exactly 50% of what you filed makes me wonder if you entered something twice by mistake.

The letter that you got from California tells you exactly what they changed. What, exactly, does it say?

CA has a habit of not acknowledging withholdings shown on the return.   

Look at your CA tax return and verify that the state withholdings shown on the return, match up with the state withholdings shown on your W2(s).

If they match, then its CA's error.  If they don't match, then its your error.
