I sold my home in CA and left the state on 10/27 for a permanent move to FL. The sale closed on 11/7. When can I claim legal residency in FL?

If you moved on 10/27, you can claim Florida residency then.  However, the sale of your house must still be reported on a CA part-year resident return, as it would be considered CA source income.
