You can claim an itemized deduction for state and local taxes paid in 2017, on Schedule A Line 5a of your federal return.  TurboTax will calculate the amounts from your W-2, so all you need to do is to make sure you enter all of the boxes on your W-2 into TurboTax.   If you have other state and local income tax paid in 2017 (not on your W-2), see this FAQ:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3302371
