The method may vary, depending on which states you are filing. But, generally it goes kike this: the federal AGI transfers to each of the part year resident state returns. You are then given a screen, in each state's software, to allocate each type of income (wages, interest, etc.) to that state. In some cases, wages will be allocated by the state shown in box 15 of the W-2.
Yes. Depending on what states you lived in, you may have two separate state returns to prepare.
