It depends, but probably not. This IRS website provides additional information: https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc901. A key parragraph on that website states:
U.S. citizens and resident aliens who aren't bona fide residents of Puerto Rico during the entire tax year are required to report all income from worldwide sources on their U.S. income tax return. However, a U.S. citizen who changes residence from Puerto Rico to the United States, and who was a bona fide resident of Puerto Rico for a period of at least two years before changing residency, can exclude any Puerto Rican source income from his or her U.S. income tax return attributable to the time he or she was still residing in Puerto Rico for part of the year. (Italics added)
Puerto Ricans are U.S. Citizens, so this provision will also apply to you. If you lived in Puerto Rico for at least two years before coming to the states, you may exclude that income from your U.S. Return. You may (and probably do) still need to file the necessary return for Puerto Rico, which is not supported in TurboTax. For information, you may see this website: Hacienda Puerto Rico
Would this also apply to those who moved from USA to PR ? I worked in NY for 7 months and moved to PR where im working as a federal employee. In the NYS income tax form IT 203 (part year resident form) should I report all my federal income (NY + PR) or just what I made while working in NY. This year im filing 3 income taxes (Federal+Puerto Rico +NY). thanks in advance!
