You will need to file part-year, resident or non-resident returns for both states, TurboTax will help you figure it all out.

You will enter all of the information on your W2's in the Federal section of TurboTax, including all State information at the bottom of your W2's.  Enter them exactly as they appear on your copies.

After all the information is entered for your federal return, go to the State section (from the menu on the left) and Add the state you need.

To add a state:

Choose the State tab from the menu in black on the left.

Choose Continue when it says Let's get your state taxes done right.

Choose the Gray box that says Add Another State.

Choose California (or New York) and continue through the on-screen prompts.

TurboTax recommends that when preparing state returns you start with the state you moved from, then work on the state you moved to, so credits are calculated correctly.
