No, if you didn't have a permanent residence in New Jersey or any New Jersey source of income you are not required to file a nonresident return. 

According to the New Jersey Department of Revenue, if you received income from a New Jersey source while you were a nonresident, and your income from all sources for the entire year was more than the filing threshold amount for your filing status, you must file a New Jersey nonresident return.
