The Sales Tax deduction is only for your resident state and you lived in your resident state for the whole year when using the tax as an itemized deduction on Schedule A of your federal tax return.
Thank you for your response. I have lived in Washington the whole year, but purchased some big ticket items in another state while visiting. Was hoping to be able to deduct that tax. I think I'm just reading it incorrectly. The items must be purchased in your state.
